Overview

Chris is a partner at Balcomb & Green who, after several years of general practice, focuses primarily on Colorado water rights and related real estate matters. He routinely assists in the acquisition, planning, and development of water supplies for clients, including ski areas, real estate developers, municipalities, water conservancy districts, special districts, ditch companies, owners’ associations, and individuals. Chris also assists clients in navigating local, Colorado and federal land use and environmental permit requirements applicable to construction and operation of water facilities and other real estate development.

He frequently works with clients, real estate professionals, and other attorneys to evaluate and negotiate the purchase of water rights associated with real estate. His practice also includes estate planning, landlord/tenant matters, and real estate transactions.

Chris obtained his undergraduate degree from Colorado State University in 1995 and joined Balcomb & Green in 2000 after graduating from the University of Colorado, School of Law. He grew up in Colorado Springs and the Denver metropolitan area and worked as a construction manager in Parker Colorado for several years between undergraduate and law school.

Chris is highly involved in the community. Chris is the 2016 chairperson of the Executive Council for the Water Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association, sits on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of the Roaring Fork Valley, is a past president of the 9th Judicial District Bar Association, and is actively involved in construction and maintenance of local soft-surface hiking and biking trails.
